About this site
Pool Robot Guide is an independent comparison site for Australian pool owners. It exists because the information a buyer actually needs, what a machine costs here, what it costs to run, and who fixes it when it breaks, is scattered across manuals, retailer listings and overseas review sites that quote American prices.
What we do and do not claim
We want to be plain about this, because plenty of comparison sites are not. We are a research and reference site, not a testing lab. We have not run thirty-eight robots through a controlled pool. When you read a specification here, it has been compiled from the manufacturer, the manual or an Australian retailer listing, and the source and date are recorded so you can check it.
Where we add something you cannot easily get elsewhere, it is in the compiling: converting published power draw into a running cost against your own state's electricity tariff, putting every model's Australian price in one table with the date it was checked, and documenting which brands have an Australian warranty entity behind them and which do not.
Where the numbers come from
- Prices are Australian recommended retail in AUD, taken from the brand's Australian storefront where one exists, or from an Australian retailer where it does not. Every price table carries the date it was checked. Prices move, particularly around Black Friday and the start of pool season, so treat any figure older than a month as a guide and confirm with the retailer.
- Specifications come from the manufacturer's published material, and where that is silent, from the product manual. If we could not source a figure, the table says "not published" rather than guessing. That happens more than you would expect, especially for power consumption.
- Running costs are calculated from published power draw and current Australian electricity tariffs, with the tariff source and date shown on the page. Where a manufacturer does not publish power draw, we say so instead of estimating it.
- Warranty and servicing information comes from the brand's Australian terms where they exist. This is the area with the most gaps, and the gaps themselves are useful: a brand with no Australian service presence is a real risk on a machine costing over a thousand dollars.
How we make money
Some brands run affiliate programs, which means we may earn a commission if you buy after following a link from this site. It costs you nothing extra. Several brands, including two of the most searched in Australia, run no such program, and we cover them anyway because leaving out the market leader would make the comparisons useless.
Every page tells you which brands on it we can earn from and which we cannot. Commission does not decide the order products appear in. If it did, the site would be worth nothing to you and would not last.
Corrections
If a price, specification or warranty detail here is wrong, we want to know, and we will fix it and update the checked date. Getting a number wrong on a page whose entire purpose is accurate numbers is the worst thing this site could do.
